Switching from the App to the API
If you are using the App and would like to move to the API using the same number, you will need to migrate your number. In order to migrate the number, please follow the migration steps in this Phone Numbers Migration article.
Below are a few things to know before you migrate your number:
- Once a phone number has been migrated from WhatsApp Business, all chat history will be lost. If you would like to retain this history, you will need to back up this data prior to the migration.
- Once a phone number has been linked to the WhatsApp API, you will not be able to use this number again with the WhatsApp App, even if you no longer want to use the API or Inbox.
