Due to local restrictions the originator or sender ID of your messages could be overwritten when sending to certain countries. Generally we see that certain networks and countries can change an originator to one of the following:
- A generic sender ID, such as 'INFOSMS'
- A local number for the recipient's country
- A local short code, such as 3546
This is out of our control, but some countries will allow you to register your sender ID to bypass this. In our Complete list of sender ID availability and restrictions you can check if your sender ID will be overwritten and if registration is possible.
If you are using multiple Numbers on your account, or you are using one of our shared Numbers, you will want to use the same Sender phone number each time a specific recipient receives an SMS from you. Sticky VMN allows you to do this and ensures a consistent and trustworthy appearance towards your customers.
Our system will automatically alternate between your VMNs, making sure that you stay below the capacity limit. When sending an SMS, you will trigger our system to select a random VMN for the first SMS message which ensures that the selected VMN is reused for all following messages towards this number. As such, you may see our system selecting a different sender number than you had entered.
