Some information is required to apply for the WhatsApp Business solution. Here is a guide that explains the onboarding process. Feel free reach out to our support team if you have any questions.
Step 1: Submit an Early Access Request
Head to our WhatsApp Business solution webpage and click on "Request early access". Fill out the form with all the requested information before submitting your request. Each request will be evaluated by our Sales team and sent over for approval by WhatsApp. We will reach out accordingly.
Step 2: Set up a Business Manager Account
Once you've been approved for WhatsApp Business Solution, we can now create your WhatsApp account, but we’ll need your Facebook Business ID. If you don’t have one already, you will need to set up a Facebook Manager Account. Sign up for one at https://business.facebook.com/
Step 3: Set up a WhatsApp Account
The Business ID is required to connect your business account with the WhatsApp Product. Share your Business Manager ID with your Sales contact in order to receive a notification in your Facebook Business account where you can accept access to the MessageBird WhatsApp platform. Once done, our technical team will be able to provide WhatsApp access to your MessageBird account.
Step 4: Choose a number and a number name for the WhatsApp Account
We will need to connect a number to your WhatsApp account. This will be the number you'll use to send and receive messages and get in contact with your customers. The number can be a Virtual Mobile Number (VMN with Voice capability enabled) which we can provide or one of your current numbers, either a mobile phone number or a landline. Please note that this number needs to be clean, meaning that it has not been associated with WhatsApp before. For more information related to the number, please refer to our guide here. We can also connect multiple numbers (in the limit of 5 numbers max per WhatsApp account) if necessary.
Each number need a number name. This will be the name display in your customer's setting and is unchangeable once activated.
Step 5: Verify your number with WhatsApp
Once you have provided a number name and a number you would like to use, they will need to be verified by WhatsApp.
Step 6: Activate the WhatsApp channel in your MessageBird account
The WhatsApp access has been added to your MessageBird account and your number name and number are approved. It is time to activate your channel!
In your MessageBird Dashboard, locate the Channels directory on the left panel and click on "WhatsApp" and find your very first WhatsApp channel. You should see "Activate channel" as a green button. If you see the status "Pending", wait a couple of minutes and refresh the page. Please contact Support if the status has not changed for than 30 minutes.
To activate the channel, a verification code will be sent to your WhatsApp number. You can either receive the code via SMS or phone call.
Step 7: Register a Message Template (Optional)
To initiate a conversation with your customers, you need to send a pre-approved message also called Message Templates. Each Message template has to follow a specific format and needs to be reviewed/approved by WhatsApp via the WhatsApp template Manager in your dashboard. Please consult our article related to it before submitting messages in your dashboard.
Once your message template is approved it can not be edited anymore. You can submit as many message templates as you want.
Step 8: Get ready to use WhatsApp
Once the number has been verified, you are all set to start using our WhatsApp Business Solution. Connect your CRM with our Programmable Conversations API to get the full use of our options.
