From within your dashboard you can send SMS to single or multiple contacts using our integrated SMS sending options or utilising data from an excel/CSV file. In this article we will cover the differences between Quick Send, Send Campaign and Bulk Messages.
Send Campaign - You can send Personalised text messages with variables to one or more recipients at the same time.
Quick Send - Quick Send feature is particularly useful when you are only sending to 1 number and you are not working with templates or variables.
Bulk Messaging - Bulk messaging is useful when you prefer not to store or import information into your Dashboard. Bulk messaging is handy when you want to send different types of content in one batch.
How to use 'Send Campaign'?
Go to the left-hand side of your Dashboard and click on SMS → Send Campaign or click here.
1. Creating the message
Once you click on Send Campaign, you'll see the below screen where you can initiate your campaign.
You can also personalise your message by setting-up variables [Custom1] when you import your contacts (Add(Import) Contacts). All variables will be automatically imported into the drop-down menu '+Personalise' on the right side of your screen.
For example, if [Custom1] is a custom field for a company named MessageBird, when the SMS is received, instead of "Hello [Custom1]", the message will be displayed as "Hello MessageBird".
2: Adding Originator & Recipients
Select an originator: An originator is a name or number from which the message is sent.
- If you use a company or brand name as the originator, the amount of characters needs to be between 3 and 11.
- If you would like to receive messages from your customers, you need to use a MessageBird virtual mobile number as the originator or include the virtual mobile number in the body of the text.
Select one or more recipients A recipient is a contact who will receive the message. To add more than one recipients you can choose between:
- Manually add a number: Type a name or number to add a contact from your phonebook quickly.
- Contacts from phonebook: Select specific contacts from your phonebook.
- Groups from phonebook: Select specific groups from your phonebook.
- Submit your own numbers: Add up to 300 mobile phone numbers manually.
3: Verify and schedule your message
Check your message to make sure it's exactly what you want: Are all the settings correct? Any typos? Did you select the right originator? Have the proper recipients been added?
If you don't want to send the message right away, you can go to the bottom left corner of your screen and click on 'Schedule'. With this feature you can schedule the date and time you would like to send the message. You can also set the frequency: once, daily, weekly, etc.
If you need to make any changes, you can select back in the last step without losing the entered information. Keep in mind that the scheduled start time will use the same time zone in which you’ve set up your account.
How to use 'Quick Send'
Go to the left-hand side of your Dashboard screen and click on SMS → Quick Send or click here.
Within Quick send you don't get a chance to verify your message as it sends immediately to the mentioned number. Therefore, make sure you check originator, recipient and the message content before clicking on Send SMS.
How to use 'Bulk Messaging'?
Go to the left-hand side of your Dashboard screen and click on SMS → Bulk Messages.
1: Choose file
