Some things are required to apply for the WhatsApp Business solution. To apply for access, just follow the step by step guide below. Feel free reach out to our support team if any questions arise.
Step 1: Submit an Early Access Request
Submit a request on our WhatsApp Business solution webpage. We’ll evaluate the application, and if you qualify for early access, we will reach out accordingly.
Step 2: Set up a Business Manager Account
We’ll need your Facebook Business ID for your WhatsApp account. If you don’t have one already, you’ll need to set up a Facebook Manager Account, just login or sign up on https://business.facebook.com/
Step 3: Share your Business Manager Account ID with MessageBird to set up a WhatsApp Account.
The business ID is required to connect your business account with the WhatsApp Product. Our Customer Success team will coordinate these steps with you. After that, you’ll receive a notification in your Facebook Business account where you can accept access to the MessageBird WhatsApp platform.
Step 4: Choosing a number for the WhatsApp Product
We’ll need to connect the number you'll be using for WhatsApp. This will be the number that customers can reach you at and from where you can send your messages. The number can be a Virtual Mobile Number (VMN) which we can provide (check available destinations or contact our support team), or you have the option to use one of your current numbers; this can either be mobile or a landline. Please note that when you use your own number, it should be a clean number, that is, a number which has not been associated with WhatsApp before. For more info, please check here.
Step 5: Verify your number with WhatsApp
Once you have selected the number(s) you would like to use, they will need to be verified by WhatsApp. We'll add a business name which will be the name displayed in WhatsApp. MessageBird will do the number verification. To do so, please provide us with the number and the associated business name when requested.
Step 6: Number verified
Once your number is verified, we will send your Number VNAME certificate. You'll need this when connecting your account to the MessageBird Dashboard.
Step 7: Registering an HSM
To reach out to your customers, you need a pre-approved message. This Highly Structured Message (HSM) needs to be approved by WhatsApp. Please send us the HSM’s you would like to register, and we’ll submit these for review.
Once your HSM has been approved it can not be edited anymore; yet, you can add new HSM’s at any time.
Step 8: Connecting WhatsApp to your MessageBird account
Now it’s time to connect your number with your MessageBird account. In your MessageBird Dashboard, you'll have been granted access to the Channels directory where you'll have the option to 'Add Channel' and select 'WhatsApp'.
This will ask for three steps:
- Add your Business Name: This is the same name provided during your number registration.
- Add your Business Number.
- Paste or upload your VNAME certificate associated with this number.
- Click 'Install Now'.
Step 9: Installing your channel
We will now install the channel. You'll be forwarded to your channel's overview and will see that your channel is currently 'pending'. This stage can take up to 10 minutes. Please refresh the page to see if the channel has been installed.
*If the status 'Pending' is displayed for longer than 30 minutes please contact our support team.
Step 10: Activate channel
When you refresh the page, and your channel has been installed you'll get the option to 'Activate Channel'. We will need to verify the number on our side; if you are using a MessageBird VMN, please open a new window to view your incoming verification token, this code will be sent to your MessageBird Dashboard under your ‘Received messages’.
Step 11: WhatsApp has now been installed
Once the number has been verified, you are all set to start using our WhatsApp Business. Connect your CRM with our Programmable Conversations API to get the full use of our options!
